The sunken Living Room floor in this house is Brazilian cherry. The homeowner wanted to change up the entrance to it making it more open.
She requested having the steps extend the whole width of the room, with the treads to be brazilian cherry to match the sunken living room.
We took down the handrails and the original nosing along the tile of the kitchen. Then we made stringers to support the new staircase.
We then built up the structure of the steps and placed new nosing made from choice brazilian cherry.
The stair treads we assembled using choice brazilian cherry lumber. The new treads are 12 feet long and 11 inches wide and very heavy.
We were very pleased on how the new steps made the room more open.
