In the old house that we just refinished the upstairs, the homeowners also needed their staircase refinished. They had carpet on them and this is what was underneath.
The carpet pad was a thick crust.
The risers the homeowner was going to paint herself. So, we prepped them for painting and we sanded down the treads and put three coats of finish on them.
